<– Be sure to check out LenovoToday for our up-to-date CES 2011 report.

Live from The AquaKnox at The Venetian Hotel, Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Lenovo will be introducing several new laptops to their Lenovo IdeaPad and Essential lines as well as a few new Lenovo Desktops. We will have photos, videos, reviews, and quotes directly from the top Lenovo Executives from CES 2011.

Lenovo Brings Netbooks and Smartbooks To The Forefront

Last year we brought you word of the IdeaPad U1 and Lenovo Skylight. Several months ago, after anticipating their release, we informed you that they would be receiving a major update to their operating system by including the Google Android OS. This should be big step forward for Lenovo in the Tablet and Smartbook market.

While Lenovo hasn’t revealed too much about these machines, we do know that they won’t be shifting their focus away from these areas, and are likely to come out with some real show stoppers this year. We’ll be sure to keep you updated and let you know what amazing things Lenovo has in store for 2011.

Today, Lenovo proudly announced the launch of a new site to go along with their most recent “What is your Idea of Fun?” campaign. It is centered around the Lenovo Idea Brand and gives users and potential customers a place to share thoughts, videos, and photos.

<– What’s Your Idea Of Fun?!

In addition to creating a community around the Idea Brand, Lenovo is also using the site to host contests and create a better understanding of the IdeaPad Laptops and IdeaCentre Desktops.

Lenovo Information Hub

Potential Customers can check out what other users are saying and find the perfect laptop for them, so they’re satisfied that they’ve chosen a computer they can have fun with.

Lenovo is currently holding two constests. The first offers a chance to join Lenovo at CES 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2011 by sending in your very own idea for a fun modified version of an IdeaPad Laptop and getting voted #1 by the site visitors. The other part of the contest is voting on the modified laptop idea and getting a chance to win an IdeaPad Y560.

Building a Community

Lenovo already has such a large following, by building this community they are creating their very own social media outlet for their incredible fanbase. While users share ideas and creativity, the Lenovo Idea Brand will strengthen and become as resilient as the reknowned ThinkPad line.

Lenovo, which has in recent years built itself up into the fourth-largest computer manufacturer in the world, announced that its sales plans in China and other developing markets have yielded the company its third straight quarter of profits.

<– Check out the latest Lenovo IdeaPad Coupon Codes.

The company said that last year’s $16 million loss for the first quarter of last year has been turned around – in just 12 months – into a $55 million profit for first-quarter 2010.

Lenovo says that it increased shipments more than 48 percent, a stark break from the 20 percent worldwide average during the same timeframe. This expansion, says Lenovo, makes it the fastest growing manufacturer of PCs in the world.

The largest sales sector for Lenovo by far – 60 percent – is the company’s laptop line, which includes the ThinkPad and IdeaPad lines of computers.

The Hungry Tiger

The largest source of growth for the company has come from China, where Lenovo has focused substantial resources. In fact, more than 47 percent of the company’s entire revenue came from strong growth in the Chinese market, both for its computers and for its mobile devices.

Also a strong growth sector was the company’s emerging-market division, which serves many Asian countries, India, Russia and Brazil. Sales in these markets grew more than 50 percent in the first quarter.

Lenovo chairman Liu Chuanzhi says that focusing energy on emerging markets have given the company a global appeal: “Lenovo has a clear strategy when and where to focus on gaining share, and when and where to focus on maximizing profit, and we executed that strategy well.”

Road to Recovery

The sharp climb in sales is doubly important for Lenovo, which was hit very hard by the recent economic crisis. Business clients, which are the lifeblood of the company’s ThinkPad line, pulled back on new purchases drastically to meet budget demands, and the company’s performance suffered.

By focusing on new markets and products, company officials believe that Lenovo can continue its sharp growth trends. This faith has been borne out as they continue to push the consumer-geared IdeaPad line in the West and the LePhone mobile devices in China.

Sunny Days Ahead for Lenovo

It remains to be seen what affect the release of the Skylight and U1 Hybrid will have on the company’s bottom line, but if current trends are any measure, then it’s likely that Lenovo will continue to enjoy sunny days.

See what’s happening with the Lenovo Skylight and IdeaPad U1 Hybrid.

With a beautiful detachable screen, this Netbook Tablet has been marked as one of the Most Innovative Products of 2010 by Laptop Magazine.

<– Read More About the Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid.

Coming in at #8 out of 25 amazing new technologies and products, the IdeaPad U1 is rivaled only by a few processors, such as the Intel Core CPUs, a few Smartphones like the new Windows Phone 7, and the Apple iPad.

Beautiful Multitasking Netbook Tablet

The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid is a very nice Windows 7 Laptop, but pair that with an amazing slate tablet and you have a Hybrid Laptop great for multitasking. The U1 runs on two separate operating systems, so when you detach the screen, it runs off of Lenovo’s own Linux-based Skylight Operating System.

The standard Windows 7 can still run from the keyboard however, so hook it up to a screen and you have two computers in one! Laptop Mag says, “The IdeaPad U1 moves easily from work to play without sacrificing performance or usability.”

Lenovo may be holding out on the IdeaPad U1 however, at least until the Lenovo-Android Connection is complete. We’re speculating that Lenovo is partnering with Android on their new IdeaPad U1 Hybrid as well as their Lenovo Skylight Smartbook in order to gain access to the Android line of applications.

So rest assured that you will really be able to connect on the go with this amazing device making it the perfect candidate for one of this years Most Innovative Products.

The sighting marks another step forward in the Lenovo-Via relationship and proves that Lenovo is dedicated to providing its customers with the widest variety of the latest processing technology.

<– Check out the Latest Lenovo IdeaCentre Offers Disclosure: Compensated Affiliate

The unidentified IdeaCentre displayed at the Computex exhibition was equipped with a Nano U2250 processor, which features a max speed of 1.3GHz. The IdeaCentre, which reports say was “the size of a small paperback” operated a full version of Windows 7 and – paired with Via’s VX900 graphics card – was fully capable of providing users with true high-definition 1080p video. It even features an HDMI port for connection to an external display.

New IdeaCentre To Be Released Soon

The new IdeaCentre, which is aimed at the home-entertainment market, has been little publicized, and Via representatives are keeping mum on pricing and release dates, but many in the Blogosphere are predicting a third-quarter 2010 release date.

Via may be new to the West in terms of use by computer manufacturers, but for years now the Taiwanese company has been putting a lot of effort into developing business in emerging markets like South America, China, and Southeast Asia. Also, the company has been signing some serious contracts with carmakers, mobile device manufacturers, and other companies in need of powerful and reliable chipsets.

Remember, too, that the new yet-to-be-named IdeaCentre is not the first Lenovo product to feature one of Via’s processors.

The most recognized Via-equipped laptop in the IdeaPad lineup, the Lenovo IdeaPad S12, can be outfitted with Via’s Nano ULV 2250, which features low-voltage technology and maxes out at 1.3GHz. And even though the IdeaPad S12 is only a 12-inch mini-machine, the Nano provides more than the simple app-centric device; this thing runs a full version of Windows.

The Nano processor in that machine has been garnering attention since the option was first made available late last year. Many reviewers have said that the Nano processor is more than just a mini-laptop processor, performing much more like the faster CULV chips found in larger laptops.

Keep An Eye Out On Lenovo

Look for more Nano-powered products from Lenovo in the future, especially as the company moves deeper into the mobile consumer market.

For many young people, though, that time has already come, especially considering the new home entertainment PCs being released these days.

<– Check out the latest Lenovo IdeaCentre Desktop PCs. Disclosure: Compensated Affiliate

It’s fitting, then, that as half the world slept, Lenovo unveiled the latest of what will likely be a long line of home entertainment machines at an expo in Japan. Behold, the Lenovo IdeaCentre A310, a new all-in-one machine that fits perfectly on the kitchen counter, or better yet, where your television used to be.

IdeaCentre A310 – Perfectly Suited for Home Multimedia

The IdeaCentre A310 is powered by an Intel Core i3-350M, Windows 7 Home Premium, and up to 8GB of RAM, making it fast enough to do regular computing and simple multi-tasking. At the same time, it’s perfectly suited for watching movies, listening to music, playing games, watching Internet television, or even surfing the net from the comfort of your couch.

The frame is very thin (18.5mm) and its low profile makes it quite appealing visually. What really sticks out, however, is the 21.5-inch (1920 x 1080) LCD display, which is powered by an Intel HD graphics card capable of providing seamless high-definition video playback.

There’s no optical drive, but there are plenty of ports for uploading data and files via media cards and USB drives. There are four USB ports and a media card reader. There’s even a 500GB hard drive in case you had any other worries about storing media without discs.

Beautiful Display

Connecting to the Web is simple. There is, of course, an Ethernet port, and also a wireless card to ensure that you get a signal anywhere in the house. There’s even an integrated webcam atop the display to connect you to your friends and family.

There’s also an integrated Bluetooth chip, which connects the wireless keyboard and mouse that come with the machine.

No details have yet been released regarding price or release date, but we’ll let you know as soon as the information is available.

New Lenovo Multimedia Remote – Enjoy Long-Distance Interaction

Want to use the IdeaCentre A310 from across the room, but don’t want to awkwardly hold a keyboard and/or mouse? Try the Lenovo 57Y6336 Multimedia Remote with Keyboard!

Bluetooth enabled, this unit features a mini keyboard still large enough to type comfortably as well as a trackball. The unit is built to be held like a remote or video game controller – depending on the task – and allows you to control your IdeaCentre A310, or any Lenovo machine, from up to 30-feet away.

Let’s take a look at what each has to offer.

<– Take a look at Lenovo IdeaPad Laptops and IdeaCentre Desktops. Disclosure: Compensated Affiliate.

See our latest review on another Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series Laptop, the IdeaPad Z460.

Lenovo IdeaCentre B305

Two months ago Lenovo announced that it would soon release a multi-touch home computer priced under $700. Well, they’ve kept their promise with the recent release of the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 all-in-one machine, which features not only a multi-touch screen, but also plenty of processing power, memory and graphics capability.

Pretty soon you won’t need your television. That’s because the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 boasts a 21.5-inch screen capable of displaying true high-definition – 1920 x 1080 – video thanks in large part to the great graphics card – the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. Also available with the B305 is an integrated TV Tuner, which will allow you plug your cable box right into your computer.

Beauty on the Inside

And there’s more to the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 than just a pretty face; it’s also beautiful on the inside. For starters, the AMD Athlong II X2 235e processor tops out at about 2.7GHz, which means that you’ll have to try pretty hard to max out on power. There’s also 2GB of RAM – and upgradeable to 4GB – as standard equipment, so it’s capable of multi-tasking as well.

Need ease of interaction? That’s a cinch with the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305 because the large display is fully equipped for multi-touch interaction. Zooming, scrolling and selecting can all be done with the touch of your fingers. But, just in case you like the old-fashioned way, the B305 comes with a sleek wireless keyboard and mouse combo.

Who said the desktop is dead? It certainly wasn’t Lenovo customers. Learn more about the Lenovo IdeaCentre B305.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z360

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z360, which was announced at the same time as the IdeaCentre B305, is a beautifully designed 13.3-inch laptop with a starting price of just $849. And what does that get you, you ask? A lot.

The base model comes equipped with an Intel Core i3 processor, and Intel mobile graphics card and a minimum of 3GB of RAM. Not enough for you? Opt instead for the Intel Core i5 version, which also features a high-end NVIDIA graphics card – the GeForce 310M – which has 512MB of graphics memory.

There are also built-in WiFi and Ethernet cards, Bluetooth, plenty of ports and a media card reader.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 takes up a nice mid-market spot in the IdeaPad lineup, proving once again that the company is truly dedicated to answering market demand.

Don’t worry, Lenovo fans – the company is still moving forward with the Skylight and U1 Hybrid devices, despite any reports to the contrary.

<– Learn more about the Lenovo Skylight Smartbook. Disclosure: Compensated Affiliate.

The company says that they’re simply drawing out the release timeline to allow for the incorporation of Google’s new Android operating system, which is poised to give Apple’s infamous iPhone, iPod and iPad systems a real run for their money.

What’s happening, Lenovo?

“After careful consideration of market conditions and user feedback, Lenovo has decided to focus its resources on building a family of next-generation mobile Internet devices,” says a press release on the Lenovo website. “[The devices will be] based upon open technologies such as (but not limited to) the Android kernel, similar to the Lenovo Smartphone, which is available for sale in China now.”

At first the company developed an in-house operating system to handle working in an app-centric environment, but ultimately, Lenovo – a hardware specialist more than anything else – chose the Android platform instead. The move, while bold, will likely pay off as an increasing number of users see a viable alternative to Apple’s mobile system.

Joining Efforts With Google

While the Skylight OS, powered in these machines with a Snapdragon processor, was certainly powerful in its own right, the availability of third-party applications, the life-blood of mobile devices these days, was virtually non-existent. This could have posed a serious problem for a company hoping to grab some mobile market share. Now, though, the Lenovo Skylight and Lenovo U1 Hybrid will be able to access the many thousands of applications developed for the Android system.

The Lenovo-Android partnership shouldn’t come as a real surprise to consumers, especially considering the well-known joint efforts undertaken in the mobile phone market in China, where Lenovo has been offering Android-powered devices since near Android’s beginning. In fact, Lenovo has been working with application developers for its LePhone mobile phone, which has 200-plus Lenovo-tweaked apps for the Android system.

The Lenovo IdeaPad U1 and Lenovo Skylight | Redesigning Performance

For those that haven’t heard or haven’t been paying attention, Lenovo’s Skylight and U1 Hybrid devices mark a dramatic redesign and innovation stage for the company. Learn more about the Lenovo Skylight, or take a glimpse at the Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid to see what all the fuss is about.

No release dates have been set, but stay tuned and we’ll keep you informed on any developments and the latest news from Lenovo.

Still a bit confused about the Z Series since our original article (and even more so since Lenovo added the IdeaPad V460 business laptop to their consumer line), we’re hoping we get more information soon.

<– The Lenovo IdeaPad Z460 has been spotted! Check out our original Z Series Article from March!

In addition to this spotting in Beijing, we were recently told that the new IdeaPad Z460 would be involved in a package deal by the Singapore Telecommunications Company, SingTel. This led us to believe that the new lineup would include connectivity options that revolved around the social media that’s taking over the internet. This new newsbreak over the China spotting has somewhat confirmed that.

IdeaPad Z460 Specifications

Processor: 2.13GHz Intel Core i3 Processor

Memory: 2GB

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Basic

Hard Drive: 320GB

Graphics: ATI HD5145

We also believed Lenovo may add more options specifically for students, or at least geared toward students and this connectivity machine may be just that. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we find out what’s going on over at Lenovo, but for right now we’re kind of stuck in the same boat as you. We’re just wondering what they’re planning and where they think these new models will go.
