Welcome back! Good to see you again.
The Lenovo IdeaPad line may have a few ’secret’ additions coming up in the near future. The Lenovo IdeaPad Z-Series to be exact.

Last year, we brought you word of the ThinkPad X100e from ThinkPadToday.com, all thanks to our ’spy’ at Lenovo. Well, now we think we may see some more intriguing additions to the IdeaPad Consumer line of computers.
What’s in a name? IdeaPad Z360, IdeaPad Z460, and IdeaPad Z560
We’ve recently detailed the release of the new IdeaPad U1, IdeaPad S10-3t, IdeaPad Y560, and Lenovo Skylight, but we’re talking about something different; something the IdeaPad line has still yet to see.
We don’t know much, but what we do know is that the new line of computers will be the Lenovo IdeaPad Z Series. All we can be sure of at this point is the laptops may come in a range similar to the current IdeaPad U Series of 13″,14″, and 15″ displays, thusly being named the IdeaPad Z360, IdeaPad Z460, and IdeaPad Z560.
We can also take a wild and crazy guess that Lenovo will be announcing the products some time around early May, shortly after the slated release of their Lenovo V360 model.
IdeaPad Student Line….Maybe
Perhaps Lenovo’s Director for Worldwide Education, Michael Schmedlen, has met up with Matt Kohut and David Hill and fervently demanded a more student-oriented line of computers for Lenovo. The Z Series could very possibly be designed with a student in mind, having the latest Intel processors and advanced graphics, as well as large amounts of hard drive space to store all of those study notes and perhaps Windows 7 Student Edition.
If it does happen to be a ’student-oriented’ IdeaPad, maybe we’ll see a mirror of the ThinkPad W Series, or workstations, on a smaller scale with a little more focus on multimedia. Or they could be switching their focus to at-home internet entrepeneurs, and give us something similar to the ThinkPad SL Series.
This is all just speculation, but we do expect to see a mirror of one of ThinkPads current series with the design of the IdeaPad as well as the focus on the consumer. This is one obvious way Lenovo might build on the IdeaPad Brand, as they’ve already started to take the netbook and smartbook categories, and added their own Hybrid Netbook Tablet niche.
The Cat Is Loose
We’ll let you know what turns up, as we’re just as excited as you are. If you ask me, Lenovo has already made some very large strides this year, in the mobile computing and social networking industries. We are sure that they have topped the big guys over at HP and Apple, yet again. That’s all the information we have right now, but the cat is out of the bag – now let’s see where it goes.
