The Y560 will have a starting price of about $850 and features a number of new technologies – including Lenovo’s new RapidDrive technology and a 3D display – that will make it the go-to machine in consumer entertainment laptops. Along with the amazing graphics, this 3-D display will make you feel as if you are at home in Pandora.

IdeaPad Y560 – An Enhanced Experience

Let’s start with a look under the hood of the IdeaPad Y560. It comes standard with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor in a variety of speeds – users can also opt for a new Core i7 processor – as well as a maximum of 8GB of RAM, the combination of which makes for an already speedy machine.

The Intel Core i7 processor also features Intel Turbo Boost Technology, but when you consider the inclusion of the new RapidDrive system, which combines a standard disc hard drive with a solid-state system, the Lenovo is twice as fast with startup times slashed in half compared to machines not equipped with it.

Maximizing the interplay of everything is Microsoft Windows 7, which Lenovo has customized especially for its machines, in what it calls the “Windows 7 Enhanced Experience.”

3-D Technology At Your FingerTips

What makes the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 a great entertainment machine, more than anything else, is its integration of 3D technology with its displays. The IdeaPad Y560  will come equipped with a 15.6-inch 16:9 high-definition display with three dimensional conversion capabilities; that’s right, a 3D display – talk about ‘Enhanced Experience.’

If you’re a gamer or an action movie enthusiast, then this machine will absolutely blow your mind. The computer even comes with a set of special polarized glasses – gone are the red and blue ones of your childhood – with which you can watch anything in 3D.

And of course, there’s also the integrated webcam atop the display for easy face-to-face communications. Don’t expect your mother to literally pop out of the screen while video chatting, however, as the Y560 real-time 3D conversion only works for 3D-enabled Games and Movies.

Interact with IdeaPad

Interaction with the IdeaPad Y560 is similar to the rest of the Y-series line. The keyboard is backed by a strong support to ensure long-life and durability. The TouchPad is large and responds well to touch, as do the buttons, which offer an easy click-range without being overly sensitive. The new Y560 will also include the familiar SlideNav navigation.

There are plenty of ways to connect to the world with the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560. The machine will most likely be equipped with the same devices offered on the Y550, which include an Intel WiFi Link 5100 card and a Gigabit Ethernet chip. There will also be a likely offering for a mobile Broadband card.

Connection is Essential

The inclusion of multiple ports, inputs and outputs ensures that Y560 users will be able to access all of their favorite media and essential peripheral devices. To watch and store information, there’s an integrated DVD/Blu-Ray optical drive. If you want to access and store personal multimedia in a highly mobile format, there’ll be a 5-in-1 media card integrated.

There’s Bluetooth for wireless peripherals and there will be three USB ports for using external hard drives and other devices. The IdeaPad Y560 will most likely feature the standard six-cell Lithium Ion battery found in the rest of the Y-series line. Considering the increased power drawn by the 3D graphics card, the battery would probably provide power to the machine for five to six hours on a single charge.

With design much like the other Y-series machines, the IdeaPad Y560 will offer sleek lines, glossy cases, ingrained inlay geometric patterns in complementary colors, and a sturdy, rigid frame that keeps it all together.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 – With Eywa’s Approval, And Ours

When we first got a glimpse of the Y560 at CES we thought it was junk, with nothing but a blurry mess on the screen. Then we were offered the 3D glasses. We couldn’t believe it! It was a 3D masterpiece on an IdeaPad Laptop, displaying the most beautiful graphics and computing performance like we had yet to lay eyes on at CES. After just seeing Avatar in Theatres, I had to check my skin to make sure I wasn’t blue and luminescent. It was amazing.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Y560 will certainly appeal to all of the “Avatar” fans out there wishing they could get more 3D in their lives, as well as entertainment-oriented customers who want to find a machine capable of keeping the energy high anytime, day or night. This IdeaPad Laptop certainly gets two thumbs up from IdeaPadToday and after it becomes available in March, will definitely be welcome on our desks.
