Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 Review And Specifications | Lenovo Affordable Entertainment

IdeaPad Z360 ReviewThe second new release in Lenovo’s new Z-series IdeaPads, the IdeaPad Z360, is a well-equipped 13-inch laptop that promises to keep entertainment lovers satisfied wherever they go. The IdeaPad Z360 is a more travel-friendly version of its bigger sibling – the IdeaPad Z560 – yet still affords users with all of the same power options. Starting at just $749, it’s not a bad deal, either.

Powerful and Efficient

The base model of the Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 comes with an Intel Core i3 processor that maxes out at 2.40GHz. That makes it plenty powerful enough to manage the majority of everyday computing tasks, word processing and office tasks, Web surfing and movie-watching. However, if you plan on gaming with this machine – which you probably are – you’ll want to upgrade to the Core i5 processor, which itself clocks out at 2.66GHz; this will provide you with that extra boost you’ll need when storming a house in search of bad guys or roaming the forests of strange worlds.

Knowing that they were creating first and foremost an entertainment machine, the folks at Lenovo made sure to include a minimum of 3GB DDR3 RAM. Again, if you’re a gaming enthusiast, you’ll want the maximum 4GB DDR3 RAM.

Tying everything together is Windows 7 Home – 32-bit or 64-bit, depending on the RAM outfitting – which does a nice job of using multiple cores to maximize entertainment immersion.

Lenovo IdeaPad Z360 - Clear Colors, Crisp Details

The high-definition 13.3-inch display has a native resolution of 1366x768 and features an LED backlight to prevent glare in harsh lighting situations. It’s a tough little display with little wiggle or flexion when stressed and it presents you with very clear colors and crisp details. Two of the three Z360 models come with an Intel HD graphics card, which is enough to handle the majority of your video needs, but you’ll want to go with the third option for anything involving animation or 3D graphics. That’s because NVIDIA’s GeForce 310M features 1GB of graphics memory, ensuring that all your movies and games offer seamless playback and interaction.

The controls on the IdeaPad Z360 are the same as that of the Z560. There is the same island-style keyboard with spill-guard technology and the same responsive touchpad in the center of the palm rests.

IdeaPad Z360 - High Quality

One really nice touch on this machine is the presence of an integrated optical drive – a dual layer DVD-R. Not every under-15-inch machine has one, but Lenovo knows its market and has decided that entertainment hounds aren’t yet willing to give up the high quality of DVD video and audio.

The IdeaPad Z360 features two USB ports, an Ethernet port, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and both VGA and HDMI ports. To connect to the Internet, the Z360 also comes with an Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250. There’s even Bluetooth for your wireless peripherals.

The design on the IdeaPad Z360 is a real highlight. Many consumer netbooks these days are so flashy and so overly designed that they’re frail as autumn leaves, but that’s not the case with this machine. Not only is there a beautiful high-gloss case and elegant control panel, but it also has the frame that has made the strength of Lenovo’s machines famous the world over.
