The Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 comes equipped with Intel’s Core i3 processor (2.40GHz 1066MHz 3MB), which provides more than enough power to handle basic computer functions like word processing, Web surfing, and video playback. If you want to use this machine for gaming, however, you’ll likely want to opt for the upgraded Core i5 processor (2.53GHz 1066MHz 3MB). That will give you the extra juice you need to handle vivid and realistic gaming experiences.

Built For Entertainment

Since this machine is build for entertainment, it comes standard with 3GB of DDR3 RAM. That ensures that the IdeaPad Z560 doesn’t get bogged down in the heat of the gaming action or at the most intense high-def video scenes. If you want to squeeze out a little more juice, you can also opt for an extra gig of RAM.

The IdeaPad Z560 runs Windows 7 and the base model comes with the Windows 7 Home 32-bit edition. If you opt for 4GB of RAM, then you’re automatically upgraded to the 64-bit version of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

IdeaPad Z560 - Bright Colors, Crisp Edges, Seamless Playback

Since the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 is a true entertainment machine, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there is one serious display – a 15.6-inch LED backlit screen. As a moment of full disclosure, the IdeaPad Z560 comes standard with Intel’s HD Graphics Card, which simply won’t do if you are a serious gamer or movie enthusiast. If you really want to get the most of the machine, you’ll want to go with the NVIDIA GeForce 310M, which comes with either 512MB or 1GB of graphics memory. That will really ensure that you get bright colors, crisp edges, and seamless playback of animations and video.

If you’re considering the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 and you’re an entertainment hound, then you’ll probably want a lot of data storage space. That’s why even the base model of the Z560 comes with a 320GB 5,400RPM hard drive. You can also get a 500GB version if you need a bit more space to hold those high-definition video files.

Of course, no entertainment machine would be complete without an integrated optical drive. The IdeaPad Z560 comes with an onboard DVD-R (dual layer) drive.

A Pleasure To Use

The controls on the IdeaPad Z560 are what you would expect from Lenovo. The chiclet-style keyboard is a pleasure to use and the touchpad – mounted in the center of the palm rest – responds well and features multi-touch capability.

Also nice is the array of ports integrated into the IdeaPad Z560. Aside from the four USB ports, there is also an Ethernet port, audio jacks, a 5-in-1 media card reader, and an HDMI port for connecting to external displays and projectors. There is even optional Bluetooth and 3G.
